Skylark Celebrates: Children’s Mental Health Week

May 7th to May 13th is Children’s Mental Health Week – and we want you to get involved!

There are two ways for you to get involved with Skylark’s Mental Health Week – take the #SkylarkSelfCare Challenge and join our GREEN TEAM!

1) The Skylark Self-Care Challenge!

Everyone has mental health, and sometimes we need a reminder to take a step back and care for ourselves. What is self-care? Self-care is any activity that we do deliberately in order to take care of our mental, emotional, and physical health.

How do you practice self-care? During the week of May 7th to May 13th, take a moment to yourself and show us your SELF-CARE SELFIE using the hashtag #SkylarkSelfCare!

Need some examples?

Skylark staff Fiona, Youth & Community Engagement Facilitator, practices self-care by growing and taking care of her house plants and balcony garden!

Skylark staff Jessica, Child and Youth Worker, practices self-care by visiting the aquarium and relaxing among the fish!

Each photo and activity provided will be one submission into the #SkylarkSelfCare Draw! We have a grand prize of a $100 Gift Card to Cadillac Fairview Malls.

Submissions will be accepted on social media (Facebook and Twitter), by using the hashtag #SkylarkSelfCare or by email, by emailing your photo to mentalhealthweek@skylarkyouth.org. Submission will be accepted from Monday May 7th at 12:01 AM to Sunday May 13th at 11:59 PM.

Step up to the self-care challenge!

2) Join The Green Team!

On Wednesday May 9th, we encourage you to WEAR GREEN to show your support for children and youth mental health. By wearing your support on your sleeve, you’ll be joining us in showing Ontario that we CARE about children and youth mental health.

Alongside Children’s Mental Health Ontario, we’ll be wearing green to declare that #KidsCantWait and that children and youth mental health care services urgently require more funding.

Want to show your support all year round? Pick up a green ribbon at our Head Office (Yonge/Eglinton) or Downtown Office (Church/Wellesley).
