Art Gallery

Artist with painting

The annual Skylark Youth Art Gallery gives artists, aged 13 to 25, a place to exhibit and sell their artwork. It’s open to every young person in the city.

Run by youth for youth, The Gallery provides a space for young people to express themselves. It serves to build community awareness and acceptance of youth and issues concerning youth and fosters, recognizes and showcases the incredible strengths, talents and diversity amongst Toronto’s youth community.

Our Youth Committee is involved every step of the way. Working together with Skylark’s facilitators and volunteers from the community, they develop skills in gallery curation, graphic design, event planning and communications. And they earn 40 to 50 community service hours along the way that can be used towards their high school diploma.

The Gallery welcomes the opportunity to work with community partners and highlight the accomplishments of youth in your programs or schools. Contact us if you are a teacher or community worker and would like to learn more about how you can connect your youth with The Gallery.

Interested in joining the Youth Committee?

Each October, we host an Open House for youth aged 14 to 21 who are interested in participating on the Youth Committee. For information on the Open House and the opportunity to join the Youth Committee, please check back periodically and follow us on Facebook.

Call for Submissions:

The Skylark Youth Gallery is going virtual! We are excited to announce that this year’s 20th anniversary exhibition will take place entirely online, through an online art exhibition and virtual auction, and through a video highlighting 20 years of the Youth Gallery and showcasing this year’s performances by youth. The deadline for both online art submissions and performance submissions is May 7th.

For online art submissions: Explore your creativity through art! We are accepting all mediums and formats of art. All submitted artwork submissions are accepted. Please submit your artwork by submitting a competed Art Submission Form and a photograph of your artwork to Fiona at fiona.lacey@skylarkyouth.org. If you would like to also be included in the exhibition video, please also submit a short video of you describing your artwork, about you as an artist, or anything else you’d like to share about your artwork. If you choose to sell your artwork, your artwork will be sold through an online auction in the month of May 2020.

The Art Submission Form can be download here (Online Art Submission Form 2020).

For online performance submissions: Share your talents with your world! We are accepting all performance types and styles – the sky’s the limit! Please submit your performance online by e-mailing a short (2-4 minute) video showcasing your talent and your Performance Submission Form to Fiona at Fiona.lacey@skylarkyouth.org. The video will be premiered online in June 2020.

The Performance Submission Form can be download here (Online Performance Submission 2020).
